Resources and Facilities

Royal Holloway, University of London
The MA draws on the research and teaching strengths in the history of political thought and intellectual history from across the University of London. Seminar classes will be held at Senate House on Malet Street in Bloomsbury in the centre of London or in the individual Colleges and Institutes to which the teaching faculty are affiliated. The Core Course will normally be taught at Senate House while specialist options will be taught in the departments of the relevant course leaders.
Students will also be able to draw on the rich library and research resources spread across the University of London. In addition to the College libraries, Senate House Library and the British Library, post-graduates will also have access to book collections and seminar events in the various specialist research institutes of the University, such as the Institute of Historical Research and the Warburg Institute. Other relevant library and research facilities in London include the Wellcome Library, the Dr Williams Library, the National Archives, the Newspaper Library at Colindale and the various seminars on offer in the University's School of Advanced Study at Senate House.
The MA is jointly convened by UCL and Queen Mary with the participation of the other colleges of the University. It is currently administered by Queen Mary. Students applying for entry before 2010 will therefore register at Queen Mary and gain access to the postgraduate facilities available to graduate students in the College. These benefits include accommodation, access to the College Library, and the use of the dedicated facilities of the Arts Research Centre and the Humanities and Social Science Graduate Centre located in the Lockkeepers Cottage on Queen Mary campus. Both Centres includes postgraduate computing facilities and a communal area for Arts research students.
